This policy sets the standards every ad on Hunt must meet: what is allowed, what is not, how ads are labelled and how we review them. It applies to every placement, and is part of our Advertiser Terms.
Our principles
- Ads must be clearly ads. Users must always be able to tell an ad from news, a shortcut or a message from Hunt.
- Ads must be honest. No false claims, hidden conditions or tricks.
- Ads must be safe. No harmful products, malware or scams.
- Ads must respect users. No pressure tactics, and no attempts to identify or track people.
Labelling
- Every ad is labelled "Sponsored", with the advertiser's display name, for example "Sponsored · Brand name". Hunt adds the label. It cannot be removed, hidden or changed.
- The label is in the same language as the ad, readable without hovering or tapping, and placed where users see it before they click.
- Your display name must be your real business or brand name.
- Ads must not copy the look of Hunt's own features, system messages, news stories or warnings in a way that could confuse users.
What we accept
Hunt shows ads only to adults (18 and over). We accept ads for any lawful product or service, as long as the ad is legal in every country where it shows. You choose those countries when you set up a campaign; if you choose none, your ad can show everywhere, including India, so Indian law applies to it.
Never allowed, in any country
- pornography and other sexually explicit content, and escort services;
- illegal or recreational drugs (including cannabis products), drug paraphernalia, and "legal highs";
- weapons, ammunition, explosives and their parts;
- malware, spyware, stalkerware, phishing, or anything that harms a device or deceives a user into installing software;
- illegal products or services, counterfeit goods, or anything that infringes someone's rights;
- fake documents, hacking services, or services to cheat exams;
- pyramid or money circulation schemes, and unregistered chit funds;
- content that is hateful, violent, shocking or discriminatory, or that breaks the rules in section 13 of our Terms of Service;
- ads aimed at children.
Not allowed where the law bans them
Some categories are lawful to advertise in some countries and banned in others. They are refused for the countries where the law bans them, and accepted elsewhere if you meet the conditions below. In India these are banned:
- online money games, betting, gambling, casinos and lotteries, including fantasy sports for money (Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025), and surrogate ads for them;
- tobacco and nicotine products, including e-cigarettes and vapes (COTPA 2003 and the e-cigarette ban);
- alcohol, including surrogate ads that use a brand's name on another product.
Inside Hunt extensions from a browser's extension store, in every country: no ads for betting, gambling, lotteries, prediction markets, real-money or prize games, alcohol or tobacco, even where the law allows them, because the stores don't allow them. These can appear only in Hunt Browser's own pages, never in India, and only from operators licensed in the countries they target.
Allowed with conditions
These are allowed where the law permits them, when you meet the law's conditions. Our reviewers check them before your ad goes live:
- betting and gambling (outside India): you hold a licence in each country you target, and the ad says it is for adults only;
- alcohol and tobacco (outside India): you follow each country's rules on age and content;
- health products, medicines and medical services: no prescription medicines and no cure claims for the diseases listed in India's Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act; every claim must be backed by evidence;
- loans, investments and insurance: only from businesses registered as the law requires (in India: RBI, SEBI or IRDAI), with the required risk warnings;
- crypto assets: in India, the ASCI risk disclaimer must appear on the ad;
- political and election ads: the advertiser is named on the ad; in India, election ads need pre-certification by the Election Commission's media committee;
- real estate: show the RERA registration number where required;
- education and jobs: no guaranteed results or job promises;
- games: games with in-app purchases must say so.
Honest ads
Your ad must not:
- make claims that are false, exaggerated or cannot be proved;
- hide important conditions, or put them only in small print that changes the meaning of the main claim;
- say "free" when there is a cost or condition the user must meet, without saying so clearly;
- use fake reviews, fake endorsements or celebrities without their permission;
- show prices that differ from the price on the landing page;
- copy another brand's name or logo, or pretend to be another business or Hunt.
Any influencer or endorsement in your ad must be disclosed as the CCPA's endorsement guidelines require.
No dark patterns
Following the CCPA's Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns 2023, ads and landing pages must not use:
- false urgency, such as fake countdown timers, false "only 2 left" or "offer ends in 5 minutes" claims;
- disguised ads that look like news, a user's post or a Hunt message;
- bait and switch, where the ad offers one thing and the page sells another;
- forced action, such as making users install an app or give data they don't need to give;
- confirm-shaming, such as "No thanks, I don't like saving money";
- hidden costs, subscription traps or pre-ticked boxes;
- fake system messages, such as "Your device has a virus" or "You have won".
Formats
| Placement | Rules |
|---|---|
| Wallpaper | A picture only. No text that looks like part of Hunt, no fake buttons, nothing that flashes. Must look right behind the new tab's search box and tiles. |
| Banner or tile | A title, optional short text and picture. The title must name what you offer. |
| Feed card | A headline and picture. The headline must describe the ad honestly and must not be written as if it were a news report. |
| Notification | A title and short text. Only shown to users who turned sponsored notifications on, a few a day at most. No alarming language, and no wording that looks like a message from the system, a bank or the government. |
All click links must use https and go to a working page that matches the ad. No automatic downloads, pop-ups that are hard to close, or redirects to other sites.
Landing pages
Landing pages must:
- belong to you, or to a business you are authorised to advertise;
- clearly show who runs them and how to contact them;
- have a privacy policy if they collect personal data;
- work on phones and computers, and load safely;
- not contain malware, unwanted software or deceptive downloads.
Review
- We review every campaign before it runs, and aim to do it quickly.
- We check the ad, the landing page and, where needed, proof of your claims or licences.
- We may reject, pause or remove any ad at any time, including after approval, if it breaks this policy or the law, or if users report a problem.
- We will tell you the reason where we can. You can fix the ad and submit it again.
Reporting an ad
If you see an ad on Hunt you think is misleading, offensive or unsafe, report it to hello@huntbrowser.com with a screenshot if you can. For a formal complaint, see the Grievance Redressal page.
Changes
We may update this policy. Changes apply to new campaigns from the date shown, and to running campaigns after we tell advertisers.
