This policy explains the cookies and similar storage used on huntbrowser.com and the advertiser portal at ads.huntbrowser.com, and what they are for. We use only a few, and none of them are for advertising or third-party analytics.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between visits, such as that you are signed in. Websites can also store data in your browser in other ways, such as local storage. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of these.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Website | What it does | How long it lasts | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
hunt_ref | huntbrowser.com | Remembers the referral code in a friend's invite link, so the friend who invited you can get referral points when you install Hunt | 30 days | Needed for the referral you followed |
hunt_root | huntbrowser.com | Holds a signed random code that recognises the same browser after Hunt is reinstalled, so a reinstall is not counted as a new install or referral | 400 days | Security and fraud prevention |
hunt_adv | ads.huntbrowser.com | Keeps you signed in to the advertiser portal | 30 days, or until you sign out | Strictly necessary |
Cloudflare security cookies, such as __cf_bm | Both | Set by Cloudflare, which runs our websites, to protect them from bots and attacks | Up to 30 minutes for __cf_bm | Strictly necessary |
All our own cookies are set only over secure connections and cannot be read by scripts on the page.
Sign-in checks
Our sign-in pages use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person, not a bot. Turnstile looks at signals from your browser to make that check. Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to it.
What we don't use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics) on our websites.
- No social media tracking pixels.
If we ever want to add cookies that are not needed for a service you asked for, we will ask for your consent first, with a "Reject" choice as easy to use as "Accept", and update this policy.
Cookies in Hunt Browser itself
Hunt Browser stores cookies for the websites you visit, as every browser does. Those cookies belong to those websites, not to us, and we do not read them. Hunt's ad and tracker blocker stops many tracking requests and scripts. You can view and delete cookies, and block third-party cookies, in the browser's settings under Privacy and security.
The Hunt extension and browser also keep their own settings on your device, such as your to-do list, shortcuts and switches. These stay on your device and are described in our Privacy Policy.
How to control cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the cookies we use:
- the advertiser portal will not keep you signed in;
- a friend's referral may not be counted;
- some security checks may ask you to prove you are not a bot more often.
European Union and United Kingdom
When Hunt offers its services in the EEA or the UK, we will ask for consent before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary for a service you asked for, as the ePrivacy rules and the UK PECR require.
Changes and contact
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, and show the date each version takes effect. Questions: hello@huntbrowser.com.
