This licence agreement covers the Hunt Browser software and the Hunt extension that you install on your computer, phone or tablet. It explains what you may do with the software, how updates work and what we are responsible for.
1. The agreement
This agreement is between you and Newtact Lab Private Limited (OPC) ("Hunt", "we", "us"). It covers Hunt Browser for Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone and iPad, the Hunt extension for Chrome and Edge, and their updates (together, the "software"). Our Terms of Service also apply to the software and to the online services it uses. By installing or using the software, you agree to this agreement.
2. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, free licence to install and use the software on devices you own or control, for your own use. The licence lasts until it ends under section 11. We keep all rights we do not expressly give you.
3. Open-source components
Hunt Browser for computers and Android is built on Chromium, the open-source project that is also the base of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Hunt Browser for iPhone and iPad is built on Apple's WebKit, as Apple requires. The software includes many other open-source components.
Each open-source component is licensed to you under its own licence, not under this agreement. Nothing in this agreement limits your rights under those licences. Where a licence requires it, we will make the source code available. See Open Source Notices, and hunt://credits in Hunt Browser.
4. Hunt extensions
On computers, Hunt Browser includes the Hunt extension as a built-in part of the browser. It provides the new tab, the ad and tracker blocker, the points panel and the sidebar. Because it is part of the browser, it cannot be removed or switched off separately. You can turn its features off one by one, such as usage statistics, the news feed and sponsored notifications. To remove it completely, uninstall Hunt Browser.
This licence also covers each Hunt extension you install from a browser's extension store (Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Firefox Add-ons, Opera add-ons). The store's own terms apply to how you get the extension; where they conflict with this licence, the store's terms win for that store. You can remove an extension at any time from your browser's extensions page.
5. Updates
- The software updates itself automatically in the background, so you get security fixes quickly. On computers, the Hunt Updater runs as a small background task for this.
- We sign updates, and the software only installs updates signed by us.
- Some updates are required. If your version is too old to be safe, Hunt may install the update even if updates were paused, or ask you to update before some features work.
- On Android, iPhone and iPad, and for the extension, updates come through the app store or the browser's extension store and follow its settings.
- Updates may add, change or remove features.
6. Data the software sends
The software connects to our services to check for updates, download its settings and filter rules, show the new tab, and run the features you use. What it sends, and how you can switch things off, is explained in our Privacy Policy. Crash reports are off unless you turn them on.
7. What you may not do
You may not, except where the law or an open-source licence allows:
- sell, rent, lend or sublicense the software;
- remove or change our trademarks, "Sponsored" labels, copyright notices or licence notices;
- change the software to get around the points ledger, fraud checks or security, or to fake activity;
- distribute changed versions of the software under the Hunt name or logo;
- use the software to break the law.
You may make changes to open-source components as their licences allow, but a changed build is not Hunt Browser and must not use our name or logo.
8. Trademarks
Hunt, Hunt Browser and our logos are our trademarks. Chromium is a trademark of Google LLC. Chrome and Edge are trademarks of their owners. Mentioning them does not mean they endorse Hunt.
9. Export rules
The software includes encryption. You must follow the export and sanctions laws that apply to you, and must not use the software in or for a country or person where that is forbidden.
10. No warranty, and limits on liability
The software is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be free of errors or work on every device or website. Our liability is limited as set out in our Terms of Service. Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
11. Ending the licence
You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the software. We may end your licence if you break this agreement. When it ends, you must stop using the software and uninstall it. Sections 3, 8, 10 and 13 continue after it ends.
12. App stores
If you got the software from Apple's App Store or Google Play:
- this agreement is between you and us, not Apple or Google;
- we, not Apple or Google, are responsible for the software, its support and any claims about it;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you;
- you must also follow the store's own terms, which win if they conflict with this agreement on how you may use the software from that store.
13. Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of India, as set out in our Terms of Service.
