This notice covers the Hunt extensions you install from the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Firefox Add-ons and Opera add-ons, such as Hunt Shopping, Hunt Rewards, Hunt New Tab and Hunt Translate. It adds to our Privacy Policy, which explains who we are, your rights and how to contact us. Each extension has its own section below that lists exactly what it uses. The store's privacy details for that extension match its section.
Who is responsible
Newtact Lab Private Limited (OPC), Hyderabad, India, is responsible for your personal data (the Data Fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023). For people outside India, Thaja FZE LLC, UAE, also acts for Hunt. Details are on our Company Information page.
What every Hunt extension does
These things are the same in every Hunt extension:
- Install ID. On first run the extension gets a random install ID from our server, so we can count installs and active days and keep your settings. It is not your name, your email, an advertising ID or a device serial number.
- Usage counts. Every 30 minutes the extension sends, with its install ID, how many minutes it was in use in each minute-long slot, and how many of Hunt's own sponsored items it showed and how many were clicked. With the install ID we keep its version, your browser and operating system, and your country as our network sees it. If you sign in, these are linked to your account.
- Remote settings. The extension downloads its settings from our server, signed so that nobody else can change them. The request carries your country as our network sees it, and nothing else about you.
- Uninstall page. When you remove the extension, the browser opens a page that tells us it was removed, so we can count it. It may ask why; answering is optional.
- Optional Hunt account. Every extension works without an account. If you sign in, the extension links its install ID to your account, so Hunt Rewards can credit what you earn. One Hunt account works for all Hunt extensions, the Hunt Browser and the Hunt apps.
What we never do
- We never sell your data, and never pass it to data brokers or advertising platforms.
- We never use your browsing for personalised advertising, or to decide creditworthiness or lending.
- We never read pages in the background. An extension reads a page only for the feature you are using on it, as its section says.
- We never collect more than the extension's single purpose needs.
- We never load code from our servers. All the code is inside the extension the store reviewed.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Microsoft Edge
We do not use your data for interest-based advertising. The sponsored items some extensions show are chosen by country and placement, never from your browsing history. Hunt AI's sponsored card may also match words in the question you just asked; that matching happens on your device, and neither the question nor the match is sent to us or to the advertiser. You can hide a sponsored item, or remove the extension.
Firefox
Firefox shows you the data each extension collects before you install it, and lets you decline optional data. If you decline, the extension's main feature still works.
Children
Hunt extensions are not meant for children under 13. In India, anyone under 18 is a child under the law. We do not knowingly track, profile or show targeted ads to children. You must be 18 or older to redeem rewards.
Your choices and rights
- Remove an extension at any time from your browser's extensions page. Its data on your device goes with it.
- Sign out in the extension, or delete your Hunt account from its settings (or from the Privacy Policy page). This deletes the account data on our servers.
- You can ask what we hold, correct it, withdraw consent, or complain: see "Your rights" in the Privacy Policy and our Grievance Redressal page. In India you can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
The extensions
Hunt Video
- What it does: changes the playback speed of videos, loops them and opens picture-in-picture, on the tab where you use it.
- Permissions: activeTab and scripting, to change the video on the tab where you click its button or use its shortcut, and only that tab; storage, to keep its install ID; alarms, to send the usage counts every 30 minutes.
- What leaves your device: only what every Hunt extension sends (install ID, usage counts and your country as our network sees it; see above). It never reads the pages you visit, your browsing history or what you type, and it has no account, sponsored content or payments.
Changes
If an extension starts to use data in a new way, we update its section first, and the extension tells you before the change applies.
